IFAB BEACH LAWS 24/25

Micro: SOLO $20

u08-12: SOLO $25, DUAL $15/15
u13-19: SOLO $30, DUAL $20/20
Adults: DUAL $30/30,  SOLO $40

PRO-AM BEACH LAWS OF THE GAME

TEAM

  • Micro 4x4 no goalkeeper. 3x10min.

  • u8-u9 (2017/2018) 6x6. 3x12min

  • u10 up (2016…) 5v5. 3x12min

  • Unlimited (rolling) substitutions*

  • Maximum of 12 players in matchday squad

  • Adult Coed: No more than 3 men on the field at one time.

  • All players MUST have a color specific wristband to play for that age group. NO WRISTBAND, NO PLAY.

GAME

  • 3 periods of 12 minutes

  • Intervals are no more than 2 minutes.

  • NO TIES in beach soccer (If you allow a tie to occur you will not be paid for the game)

    • 3 minutes of Extra Time

    • Penalties ONLY players on field at end of OT (Best of 3v3, if still tied 1v1, if still tied start over in any order)

  • Win in Normal Time = 3 points

  • Win in Extra Time = 2 points

  • Win on Penalties = 1 point

  • A direct freekick is awarded for all fouls

    • Fouled player MUST take the free kick (unless they are injured, sub must take)

    • Restarts are to be taken within 4 seconds or turned over to the opponent. Referees are to show a visual and verbal count.

      • Corner Kick turns into GK Distribution

      • Thow/Kick-in turns into throw/kick-in to opponent (May NOT score directly)

      • GK Distribution or other violations turn into Free Kick from kick off spot.

      • Free Kicks we do not visibly count to allow for the kick to be taken.

      • May NOT score directly from a kick off.

  • No offside

  • No walls

  • No footwear (except sand socks)

  • Throw/Kick-ins can be taken with hands or feet within 4 seconds

  • Free kicks in the attacking half, all players behind the ball and 5 yards away.

  • Free kicks in the defensive half, all players outside a triangle between both corners and the ball.

    • Players may not play the ball until it has touched ground, goalkeeper or goal post. Violation is DFK from spot or PK if played by defender and in the penalty area.

  • A team that suffers a Send Off MUST play short for a full 2 minutes.

  • There is no limit to the number of fouls a player may commit. (No PI)

  • ONE FREE PASSBACK to own GK. Any restart may initiate the use of a pass back. Resets after opponent touch on ball or ball out of play. Offense: DFK from center of pitch (Cone)

  • Bicycle/Scissor Kicks are fully protected (if it is set up and within the frame of body.) Bicycle Kicks taken directly from a restart or pass are not fully protected. (More on this during the webinar.) Typically only seen in adult men’s games.

REFEREE MANAGEMENT

  • Start time of scheduled game time regardless if teams have taken the field or are delaying. Give repeated verbal & and whistle announcements.

  • A team not present at the start of game has a running 5-minute grace period. Once 4 total players are present they MUST play. If after 5-minutes the game is recorded as 1-0 due to not enough players.

  • Visual and verbal counting of restarts (throw/kick-in, gk distribution, corner kick) is required. (Except for kick offs and all free kicks)

  • Player fouled MUST take the free kick. If they leave due to injury. Sub must take.

  • No slide tackling. (playing on the ground without an opponent is not a tackle, a block is not a tackle) More on this during the webinar.)

  • Beach Soccer/Futsal are different games than grass! There is to be FAR LESS contact challenges. Calling fouls is STRONGLY encouraged by the rules, the tournament, the promoter and REFEREE S.C.

  • If solo referee, choose a touchline to run. (REFEREE SC suggests bench side as it is easier to manage any substitution infractions. Avoid staying in the middle of the field. Cross over if or when necessary to control game.

RULES WEBINAR: (Attend one) WEDNESDAY June 4th 8:00pm & THURSDAY June 5th 8:00pm

TRAVEL/LODGING STIPEND: Referees that are working BOTH Saturday & Sunday and traveling over 75 miles one-way will receive a total of $100 Travel/Lodging Stipend. NO STIPEND for those ONLY working

PARKING STIPEND: ALL Referees working at least 4 games a day will receive a $10/day parking stipend.
Choose from four locations to park: (These rates are based on 2024)
Free Neighborhood Parking: @ and near Cayuga St. & Hiawatha Ave (15 min. walk over the train trellis)
West Depot Park: Behind SkateWorks $2/hr $20/all day 
Wharf: $2/hr-$24 all day
Boardwalk: $30-35 all day
